Itinerary

Morning: Arrival at Paro International Airport: Bhutan's only international airport, located in a beautiful valley. Enjoy the scenic views during your flight and arrival. Transfer to Thimphu (1.5 to 2 hours): The capital city of Bhutan, Thimphu, is located around 50 km from Paro. Enjoy the drive through the stunning landscapes. Afternoon: Lunch in Thimphu: Try Bhutanese traditional food, like ema datshi (chili and cheese), momos, or red rice. Visit Tashichho Dzong: A beautiful fortress and monastery that houses the Bhutanese government offices and the throne room of the king. Buddha Dordenma Statue: Visit one of the largest Buddha statues in the world, standing at 169 feet tall, offering panoramic views of Thimphu. Evening: Explore Thimphu Town: Stroll around the capital's local market and shops. You can also visit the National Memorial Chorten, a prominent stupa. Dinner at a local restaurant: Enjoy traditional Bhutanese cuisine, or opt for an international menu. Overnight in Thimphu.
Morning: Breakfast in Thimphu. Visit the National Folk Heritage Museum: Learn about Bhutan's traditional lifestyle and culture. Visit the Changangkha Lhakhang: A sacred temple with a great view of the city and valley below. Hike to Dochula Pass (Optional): If you are feeling adventurous and time permits, take a short detour to Dochula Pass (10,000 ft) for spectacular views of the Himalayas and the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens. Late Morning: Drive back to Paro (1.5 - 2 hours). Lunch in Paro: Enjoy a meal with beautiful views of the valley. Afternoon: Visit Paro Rinpung Dzong: One of Bhutan’s most iconic landmarks, a fortress-monastery overlooking the Paro river. It’s also famous for its appearance in the film The Little Buddha. Visit the National Museum of Bhutan: Housed in an old watchtower, this museum displays Bhutanese culture, history, and art. Evening: Walk through Paro town: Explore the charming town of Paro, which is smaller but rich in history. Dinner in Paro: Enjoy another round of traditional Bhutanese food. Overnight in Paro.

Visit Changangkha Lhakhang: A sacred 12th-century temple offering stunning views over Thimphu Valley. Take a brief walk to the local Craft Bazaar: Browse through handicrafts, textiles, and other Bhutanese artifacts. Afternoon: Lunch in Thimphu. Drive to Punakha (2.5 to 3 hours): The journey takes you through beautiful landscapes, crossing the Dochula Pass at 10,000 feet, where you can see the majestic Himalayan peaks (on clear days). Late Afternoon: Arrive in Punakha and check-in to your hotel. Visit Punakha Dzong: This stunning fortress is at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers and is one of Bhutan’s most iconic landmarks. It’s also the winter residence of the Chief Abbot. Evening: Dinner in Punakha: Enjoy the calm atmosphere and local food. Overnight in Punakha.
Punakha to Paro (with Hike to Tiger’s Nest Monastery) Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. Explore the Punakha Valley: Visit the Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility), a short hike from the main road, famous for its unique history and views of the valley. Drive back to Paro (4-5 hours): Return to Paro, passing through scenic landscapes and charming villages. Afternoon: Lunch in Paro: Enjoy a local meal in the heart of the valley. Hike to Tiger's Nest Monastery (Paro Taktsang): This is one of Bhutan's most iconic and spiritual sites. The hike takes about 4-5 hours round-trip. The monastery, perched dramatically on a cliffside at 3,120 meters, offers stunning views of the Paro Valley. Evening: Return to Paro town: Relax after the hike. Dinner at a local restaurant: Enjoy Bhutanese delicacies and reflect on your day. Overnight in Paro. Day 4: Paro Sightseeing and Departure Morning: Breakfast at the hotel. Visit Paro Rinpung Dzong: This impressive fortress-monastery is a highlight of Bhutanese architecture and history. It is also known for its appearance in the movie The Little Buddha. Visit the National Museum of Bhutan: Located in the old watchtower above Paro Dzong, the museum showcases Bhutan's rich history, culture, and art. Late Morning: Leisure time in Paro town: You can do some last-minute shopping for souvenirs or simply explore the charming town. Lunch: Enjoy a final meal in Paro, with views of the beautiful Paro Valley. Afternoon: Departure from Paro International Airport: Transfer to the airport for your flight back home or onward destination.
